Selling Timber – Why hiring a Consulting Forester in PA is a good move.
A timber sale is something you should enter into with great care. Start by informing yourself – read this:
Sometimes I read an article by one of my associates and It is so good I just need to re-post it. In this article by Allyson Muth, she describes what usually happens when timber is sold to a logger or sawmill. Ninety percent of timber sales are done without the benefit of a Consulting Forester in Pennsylvania, or at least not a good one. These timber sales, regardless of what the Landowner is told, result in high-grade logging with damage to the residual stand, no regeneration of quality trees and possibly not generating the income it should. Most timber sales have a detrimental effect on the future timber value of a stand and the health of the forest.
There is more to a Timber Sale then painting and tallying trees
Every timber sale should include a plan for regeneration, reduction of invasive species, increased diversity of native trees and reserving high quality timber for future growth. If you want all of the above, hire a forester who can achieve these goals. As a Forestry Consultant in Pennsylvania, I can help you understand the process, mark your timber properly, see to it that the logging job goes well and make sure you get a fair price and all of the money you are owed.
